Christmas 2010

This year was our first Christmas at our home with the kids and all of the grandparents and aunts came over to share it with us.

Christmas Eve dinner was a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich buffet with tomato basil soup.

And the Jacksons had to introduce the Morgans to our favorite holiday drinks - 7 & Crown for the guys and Smith & Wessons for the ladies (made all the better by Grandma Morgan's homemade Kahlua).

Caden's Christmas gift to Grandma J was a night off from water patrol.

Then it was time to bake cookies for Santa...

...the store bought dough was more than a little sticky so we got a few misshapen cookies in the oven and then just played with the dough and sprinkles.

Holiday shenanigans and laughter ensued.

Later the kids got their PJs on and wrote a note to put out with the cookies for Santa.

After a rousing game of "What's Yours Like?" (of which the contested winner was Casey), Santa came and delivered A LOT of presents.

Everyone showed up bright and early at 8:00am the next morning to see the kids wake up... of course they didn't get up until an hour later so we munched on breakfast quiches and cinnamon roles while we waited.

Once he finally got up, Caden was very excited to see all the presents waiting under the tree.

Aunt Sarah was the official Santa Clause and Caden was her little helper.

He also opened plenty of presents of his own...

...and dished out lots of appreciative hugs.

Sadie Belle kept up the tradition of wearing a bow to her first Christmas.

And everyone else got a haul of presents too.

When we were finally done opening presents, Grandpa J went on a coffee run and everyone got to check out their new toys...everyone except for Aunt Sarah and Grandpa Morgan who were kept busy scratching the lottery tickets Santa left in their stockings for a good 45 minutes.

Eventually we all spiffed up for Christmas dinner.

We continued the Morgans' tradition of wrapped filet minion with shallots, mushrooms, and Madeira wine sauce with lots of yummy sides.

Finally it was time for pie!

After everyone headed home that night, the four of us snuggled into our new Christmas flannel PJs (after Casey made a quick run to Fred Meyer to make sure his baby girl wasn't left out - they didn't have plaid pants for 6 month olds but he did a pretty good job improvising).

Caden and Sadie spent the rest of the weekend enjoying their new toys.  All and all it was a Christmas for the books!
